Qarau generates and plays back subtitles for YouTube video clips that feature Kazakh language audio, making Kazakh-language content more accessible to learners and viewers who need text alongside the spoken word.
The backend is written in Go, with PostgreSQL for persistence and gRPC for internal service communication. It’s published as part of the Kazakh Verb website, where clips can be watched with generated subtitles directly in the browser.
The source code is available under MIT licence.
